Reading is the portal to becoming a better person. Studies show that people who read more tend to demonstrate higher levels of empathy, intellect, and human understanding than those who fail to pick up a book from time to time. I have always believed that in order to pursue our physical and fitness-related goals, our mindset must be fine-tuned in a way that is limitless and offers us the most opportunity. Plus, if we manage to hone our muscles and train hard for an hour a day, what's to say we can't also train our minds and set aside ten minutes or so a day of reconnecting with ourselves and exploring time and space from the comfort of a book?
I wanted to set up an online book club to create a community and encourage others to better themselves - and furthermore, their lives - through the basic act of reading. Once a month we will set up a book and through the social media group have 'meet ups' (hopefully physical ones in the not-too-distant future!) to discuss the set book. There'll be polls and voting involved, so everyone will have a say in what they fancy reading, plus the genres will be incredibly varied from month to month so we'll constantly be learning - and never getting bored.
